Phase 6 is different. This is not about purchasing. It is about repaying. The $4 million in Qardh Hasanah that made all of this possible came from individuals in this community. They lent in good faith. Now we fulfill that trust.

For 13 years, TIC operated out of rented space, always one lease away from losing everything. The prayer halls, the Da’wah work, the community built over years stood on borrowed ground.
Then came the chance to change that forever. Purchase the building. No riba. An interest-free deal, but only if the community could raise $3 million by December 29, 2023.
With hours to go, we were still $100,000 short. We made calls. We reached out to anyone who would listen.
Allah reminded us this is His House and He will protect it.
847 people gave $101,480 in 48 hours. That’s the power of this Ummah.
Alhamdulillah, the contract was signed. The building is ours. And TIC now stands as a permanent home for Islam in the heart of Canada’s biggest city.
But That Purchase Came at a Cost Owed to Real People.
To buy this building without riba, TIC relied on Qardh Hasanah, interest-free loans from generous individuals in this very community. These weren’t institutions or investors. They were your neighbours. Your brothers and sisters. People who trusted us with their savings as an amanah.
They asked for nothing except that we repay them when we could. We’ve made four payments and repaid $1.9 million, Alhamdulillah. But $2.1 million remains outstanding, and the next $500,000 is due by the end of December 2026.
These people showed up for this community when we needed them most. Now it’s our turn.

We have a clear obligation to the community members who gave Qardh Hasanah, and we are committed to fulfilling it. We have made four payments on time. If we fall short of the Ramadan 2026 target, TIC leadership will communicate directly with lenders and work transparently toward a revised schedule. But our goal — and our intention — is to meet every deadline. Your donation keeps that possible.

6. Why should I Donate again?
1. This Masjid is located on the busiest street in Canada and is responsible for Dawah and multiple Shahadas weekly, thanks to the amazing location.
2. We were able to negotiate a Interest Free contract with the seller – Help protect TIC from Riba (Interest).
3. There is no other Masjid in the area, and the community desperately needs a Masjid and Community Centre they can call their own. Thousands of people will no longer have a space to serve them.
4. TIC is a registered charity with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and your donation is tax-deductible.
